There are so many quotes I could think of right now to cover this subject, and these two come to mind:
“Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.” ~Thomas Jefferson
“Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense.” ~Steve Landesberg
I’ve never understood a human’s need to be dishonest. What is the benefit in that? Is it that you think it will improve your situation, whatever that may be? Is it really a better defense to lie?
People seem to get themselves into more trouble than good with dishonesty. It becomes that never-ending circle of deception. If you are the offender, you are the one who typically ends up looking like the foolish and ignorant one. Why would one want to put themselves through that vicious cycle of circumstances that just keeps getting worse with each little lie?
Honesty is…appreciated, more than you realize. No one is perfect, and I’m far from it, but I can say that things in life would be a lot easier if we were all more honest with each other.
Be wise…be the change. Be honest in everything.
